Snapchat Plus: Is It Worth It?

Snapchat Plus: Is It Worth It?

The social media app Snapchat came out with a new phenomenon, Snapchat Plus, in June of 2022. It costs $3.99 a month and it allows its users to have early access to exclusive and pre-released features.

According to an article by Ainfluencer, one of these features is having a story rewatch indicator. This means that a person with Snapchat Plus gets told when one or more of their Snapchat friends have rewatched their story and how many friends have rewatched it. Another feature Snapchat Plus users have is being able to pin someone as their “#1 best friend” on the app. They also get to choose the background of their chats.

If a person does not want Snapchat Plus, they can just continue to use Snapchat normally. So, even with Snapchat Plus’ features and their fairly inexpensive price, people still wonder whether or not it is worth it.

In an article by Path of Ex they said, “On the one hand, Snapchat Plus offers exclusive and experimental features that you will not get on Snapchat. But on the other hand, Snapchat is still a free-to-use app.”

Due to these pros and cons of having Snapchat Plus, people have to weigh how much having it would actually benefit them personally. Sophomore, Alison Turner, who has Snapchat Plus, says it is worth it if Snapchat is what is primarily used for messaging.

“My opinion is it’s only worth it if Snapchat is your main texting app,” Turner said. “Otherwise you’re not utilizing it to its fullest and it’s wasteful.”

Other people also agree with this take on Snapchat Plus. According to an article by Market Realist, “For $3.99 a month, Snapchat Plus can be useful if you use the app frequently and have a hard time sorting through your list of friends.”

So, all in all, Snapchat Plus can be a good investment for someone if they use the app regularly. But, if they are not able to get it for any reason or they do not use Snapchat very often, then they could just continue to use the app regularly and they will be fine.
