People all over America are making big changes, by living in tiny places. The mission to remove clutter from their lives, and reduce impact, is being noticed. Yahoo has a number of articles covering this new way of life, and those building have hundreds of websites all over the web. It’s a different approach to peace, it’s to gain peace of mind. Going against zoning, finding open land, finding home.

You can keep the price down by using recycled materials and putting your home on family land. Many people have built homes for under 500 dollars. Couples, families, single artist. Many build their homes with their own hands along with help by family and friends.

Mortgage free, people living tiny can often quit their jobs to pursue other dreams and hobbies. According to Yahoo, a young couple in West Virginia quit their jobs to build a glass Eco home. They did this so they could spend their time being free; painting. Writers retreat, painters nest, and musicians find sanctuary.

Tiny homes aren’t only for couples and the single, according to Simon Dale from Wales on Gaia.com. He built over a summer a 4,700 dollar home for him and his expecting wife. They camped during their venture towards home. The end result was a two story, cozy cottage style tiny home, fit for a family. He had no experience in building, he had an idea and he started with an open mind.

“Being your own have-a-go architect is a lot of fun and allows you to create and enjoy something which is part of yourself and the land rather than, at worst, a mass-produced box designed for maximum profit and the convenience of the construction industry.

Building from natural materials does away with producers’ profits and the cocktail of carcinogenic poisons that fill most modern buildings.” Said Simon Dale, to Giaia.com.

The first step to building your tiny home is picking your spot, often tiny homes are built far out of city limits or on wheels to escape zoning rules. Many cities have minimum building requirements, but as well as building it mobile to get around the rules, there are also townships of people living tiny that have made their own rules. In places like Stones Throw Ecovillage you can build to match your dreams.
