School has lots of extracurricular activities for people to do, but some people decide that they don’t like some, can’t do them, or want money. So they go and get a job, whether it’s after school or part time. These jobs can offer money, experience and quite a lot of other things, but how does it affect your school life? Different jobs could have different impacts, whether it is good or bad.
Some believe that jobs can impact a student’s school life. Some students would disagree.
“I don’t think that there’s really any changes to my school life because of my job.” Ben Dome, sophomore, said

“I have plenty of free time after work and after school for free time” Dome said
Sometimes jobs can stress people out at school, or school can stress you at your job.
“No,” Dome said
School can be hard enough without a job, so sometimes jobs can add to the workload.
“I don’t have a lot of time to catch up on any classes I missed so that sucks” Zaeden Medina, senior, said
Some changes to a student’s school life can be a blessing or a burden.
“I like having my schedule full all the time so I believe that’s a positive” Medina said
Free time can be a small relief from school, but jobs could take that away.
“Balancing school, sports, and a job means I don’t have a lot of free time with no more than an hour a day in between the time I get out of practice to going to work” Medina said
Stress can play a big role in jobs and school, and your performance in them.
“Having all 3 can be difficult to manage for a lot of people but I enjoy being busy all the time and making money” Medina said
Academics can play a big part in your late life, and jobs could impact them.
“My school life is affected by my job because I get off late and don’t get enough sleep for school” Brayden Thomas, senior said
Changes could be good or bad depending on the type of job involved.
“Yes there are a lot changes because I am involved in manual labor” Thomas said
Free time is once again a big issue, as everyone needs time to wind down.
“Yes I still have free time I request the days off I need for sports and other activities” Thomas said
Stress can slowly make your sanity slip if you don’t have time to relax
“I get stressed at work when I have to do everything by myself” Thomas said
In the end, everyone’s jobs are different. Some can have great pay, but bad hours, and have less free time. Others could be the complete opposite. But all the same, jobs are great opportunities to meet new people and gain experience and cash.
