A sophomore in high school talks about what she wants to do after she graduates and some things she did before high school. She talks about who and what she wants to be in her future.
Jharetzi Orta loves everything about cosmetology. But before she got into cosmetology, she played the violin and also played soccer in her free time.
“I’ve wanted to do cosmetology since maybe I was 11,” Orta said.
She says her passion for cosmetology came from her parents. She said shes always around it, and that’s what makes her so interested and wanting to do it in the future.
“Just because I’ve always been around it like my parents did it to,” Orta said.
Before pursuing cosmetology, she played soccer and violin. Playing both of those left her schedule full. But soon after, she started to lose the passion for playing. She also stopped playing soccer; she said she stopped playing because of her lack of confidence.
“Just like a lake of confidence and loss of passion for it,” Orta said. “I just didn’t find much interest in it anymore.”
Shes from Texas and shes always wanted to go back because she misses it. She wants to live by the beach rather than the mountains because it’s more calming, relaxing, and there are more things to do there rather than living in or by the mountains.
“I would go to Texas because that’s where I’m from, and I just miss it.” Orta said. “I would go t to the beach because it’s more relaxing and calming, and it has more things to do.”
Since shes always wanted to be a cosmetologist, she would spend all her life savings just to be better at it and just get into it more. She would also buy a nice house and car.
“I would buy my dream home, car, and things to get into cosmetology,” Orta said.
Her years at high school have been a lot, shes had to think hard about what she actually wants to do and if it’s the right choice to be a cosmetologist. But soon she realized that’s really what she wants to be and pursue after high school.
“Yes, I want to go to college for like cosmetology and maybe other things too,” Orta said.
Her first year of high school might have been tough, but she could always go to people and have fun with friends. It might have been chaotic, but at least she was having fun.
“Stressful, interesting, and chaotic, but like in a good way,” Orta said.
Collecting things might be weird, but she embraces it. She doesn’t care what people think about how she lives her life. Collecting things for her is like a therapy thing.
“I collect cows like plushies and horse plushies too,” Orta said.
