Wellness is an important part of life, but sometimes it can be hard to understand that is where dimensions of wellness comes in. Dimensions of wellness is a new class coming for the 26-27 school year, being taught by Alyssa Penn.
Wellness can be achieved as long as you know what helps you gain wellness; there are multiple parts to wellness that the class will cover.
“Dimensions of Wellness is going to discuss all 8 dimensions of one’s overall health and wellness: emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, and spiritual,” said Penn.
To achieve wellness, you have to find strategies that will work for you, that reduce stress and other things.
“The biggest thing I want to focus on in this class is exactly how to care for mental health, like coping strategies,” said Penn. “We will be incorporating good habits into our classes each week to practice using these strategies as well.”
Dimensions of wellness will cover many things that many students struggle with or just need to learn as valuable life skills. The class will cover money management, work-life balance, relationships, mental health, and more.
“Some things to look forward to is spending time outside, journaling, and creating a less stressful environment for ourselves with all things going on,” said Penn.
High school is hard, and as teenagers, we go through a lot of emotions and difficulties we dont know how to manage. Dimensions of wellness aims to make it easier, even if just a little.
“High school is stressful, being a teenager is hard, and the goal is to teach students how to understand their emotions, how to deal with them properly, and how to get through all the difficult things life throws at us,” said Penn.
Dimensions of wellness will be an interesting class that will hopefully help many students.
