The FIFA world cup is coming to Kansas City and with it comes fans from all over the world. Many of these games get heated as there are high bets or things at stake, so Kansas City needs to prepare.
The first thing that Kansas City added is the connect KC 26, this is a network of buses that will transport fans to and from the stadium to designated locations, these buses will also take people to downtown KC, and explore other parts of Kansas.

This is a map of all the pickup and dropoff locations. This service will be completely free, and you don’t even need to purchase a match ticket to get on one of these buses.
Another thing in preparation for the World Cup is the new Kansas Police Mobile Command Center; this new command center replaces an old bus that was built in the 90s. According to KC police, the old bus used VHS tapes and lacked modern technology. Only highly trained officers get to use this new command center.

The SWAT team has paired up with Missouri State Highway Patrol to train on what to do if there is an emergency on public transport, they have also only focused on the world cup rather than other events.
KCPD Captain Jacob Becchina said work is already underway, conducting regular training.
“As part of feeling welcome, that means feeling safe,” Becchina said.“And we want to make sure people feel that.”
