Two teams going head to head, answering as many questions as quickly as possible. From literature, social studies, science, math, to even questions about social media.
How many questions can that team answer? Scholar Bowl is an after school activity students do just for a little get away. Daniel Meili, a sophomore varsity Scholar, joined his freshman year. Daniel enjoys going to different schools with his team answering trivia questions.
“I joined Scholars Bowl because Cohran was the coach. I like coach Cohran. It’s fun being able to go and do something with my friends,” said Daniel. “It’s more chill than other activities, you can just do it for fun. I just enjoy trivia, Scholar’s Bowl allows me to show what I know while hanging out with my friends. I like it because it’s nonchalant and you don’t have to be very smart, nor try to answer every question. No one cares if you get it wrong, it’s just for fun.”
Elijah Milie, a sophomore varsity Scholar, also joined his freshman year. A friend perked Elijah’s interest with a Scholar’s Bowl which made him realize trivia questions can be fun.
“I first started Scholar’s Bowl as a freshman, when Jackson Fry invited me, ” said Elijah. “I really thought it would be a fun pastime. Just to hang out with the homies. Scholars Bowl really helped me to have more time with my friends. I would say I’m into trivia questions, said Elijah, I like to solve things with my brain, and memories are a good thing for me. I memorize facts and random facts. Scholars Bowl has helped show that I’ll most likely do it next year, and I hope I can get another varsity letter. Yes I lettered as a freshman in the Scholars Bowl.”
Lifted Akobi, a junior varsity Scholar, joined her sophomore year. Before Scholar Bowl was just a side activity, but now has become an important part of her free time.
“I’ve been doing Scholars Bowl for two years, but this year I’m actually committed,” said Akobi. “It’s fun to be among like-minded individuals where you just need out. And use the random trivia facts that you know. And it is actually beneficial. It’s just fun to answer questions with your friends and with the team. Winning is also fun, but it’s really not about winning. It’s just about the community and the friends there.”
