On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 180 families living at Aspen Place Apartments were forced to leave, due to the apartments being deemed unsafe to live they had to leave in two days.
Immediately after the announcement was made, many residents of Gardner were outraged that they only got two days to gather everything they owned, with many of the affected families having nowhere to go.
A church and the residents of Gardner came together to help families with many different things, like moving, support, childcare, meals, interpreting, fostering pets, and temporary housing for affected families.
The people helping also gather a bunch of supplies, like food, water, diapers, and other necessities, to help the residents of Aspen. Some businesses also came a gave food to residents and people helping.

Before the evictions, there were many problems with the living conditions, with appliances and utilities being in poor condition and outdated.
There were many families that had problems with their water not working, causing them to have to buy bottled water to be able to do things like flushing, washing dishes, and laundry
The Street conditions there were also terrible. There was a lot of damage to the streets, and it didn’t seem like there had been any repairs done there in a long time.
On Friday, May 9, 2025, the people who came to help held a reunion to rest, and to announce that they would come and start helping again on Monday, to help pack the last three apartments.
