This year the Homecoming theme is Emerald City, which Stuco decided on back in the spring.

Stuco is in charge of a majority of the planning that takes place during this busy week. They are the ones who decided on the themes for the football games, the t-shirt designs, and so much more. Huge Thanks to them and all the teachers that take time out of their days to help.

Homecoming Parade

Homecoming week starts off on Wednesday night with the parade and then the powder puff game that follows.

The parade is a tradition that was brought back last year

“This is only the second homecoming parade that we’ve had. It was a tradition a long time ago when the town was smaller, but we brought it back last year,” Mrs. Kueser said.

Even thought the parade happens at the high school it’s not just for high school related things, all the different schools, clubs, and organizations happening within our town come out and walk in the parade. There were about 30 groups this year.

It’s a way for our community to come together and celebrate everything that happens in our town.

Powder Puff

Following the parade is the powder puff game.

The powder puff game is where the junior and senior switch sides. Girls play football and the boys are on the sidelines cheering.

This has been happening  for years and has turned into a fun little tradition where the juniors and senior girls get to compete against each other for the win.

The teams are coached by other students and the coaches are the referees.

The players also get to choose their own nicknames to wear on the back of their shirts.

This year the juniors came through with the win.

Homecoming

Friday there is going to be a pep assembly and then following that is the actual homecoming football game against Olathe North.

Then at  half time is when the crowning of the Homecoming King and queen will take place.

Then concluding the week is the Homecoming dance that is happening Saturday night were we will all dance our hearts out.
