OPINION: When Christmas Music Should Be Listened To

Christmas music has a time and a place. Say you go trick-or-treating and when you knock on the door instead of the classic “trick-or-treat?” you threw in a “happy holidays!” it would be ridiculous, outrageous even. Many people believe that it should stay in December, however, there are also other parts of the population that say it’s okay after Halloween or all year around.
December is usually the month when most people think of Christmas. It’s when all the holiday activities take place and when most truly begin to think of the holidays ahead. This is a pretty average time for people to listen to Christmas music and begin celebrating the wonderful holiday. Limiting the festive music to only this month though is too extreme. This is not the best time to begin listening to festive music but it isn’t the worst.
While the majority of people listen to festive music in December, there are many who begin long before then, starting in the Halloween season. This is not a good time to begin listening to music due to there still being a few holidays between the two holidays. It’s a lot earlier than I would start listening. Christmas music has its time and place and October or before is not a part of that.
There are also people that never stop listening to Christmas music as it becomes an all-year thing for them. Instead of picking a season, they decide that every season is the best season. This is one of the less common opinions about when it is okay to listen to festive music. This is also the only time that I completely disagree. Christmas music should not belong in months early than November. I don’t want to be listening to Christmas music in July and get excited about that time of the year only to realize there is still half the year before then.
According to Bustle, the majority of people think that the best time to listen to Christmas music is after Thanksgiving. This is when most officially begin the holiday season and when different radio stations begin playing the music. This is one of the most reasonable times to listen to Christmas music and the time that is best.
Every one of these times, except for all year, are okay times to enjoy festive music. The best time though would be around the Thanksgiving season. This is when I really begin to get into the Christmas spirit and start allowing myself to enjoy classics such as Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee, The Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Micheal Bublé, and many more.
