At GEHS, the art club is one of the numerous ways for individuals to be given the opportunity to express themselves on an unfathomable level through different techniques of the fine arts.

Sophomore art club member Brittany Magnusson said that she joined art club because of her burning passion for the arts.

“Art to me isn’t just a passion but also a whole other world; and being in that world with other people’s passion for it is really great” Magnusson said.

She has also declared that seeing other’s work of art is one of her favorite parts of the club.

“Everyone does art so differently and seeing such a wide variety is so neat and eye opening” Magnusson said.

Stemming from such love and awareness of and for the diversity of individuals, the competitions that the students have the opportunity of attending also intrigue Magnusson. “Honestly the competitions are very fun and it’s eye opening to see other people’s projects” Magnusson said in regards to what she is most looking forward to.

Senior Amy Eichman, like Magnusson, said that one of her favorite parts of art club is the competitions.

“They’re really exciting and I love competing my pieces” Eichman said.

With a passion for art similar to the other members, Eichman said that she is looking forward to getting her pieces back; along with any awards or ribbons she has received from this past year.

Although art club has only met a handful of times and consists of twenty or so students, the love and dedication for the fine arts expressed through the individuals is visible through the club. From different competitions to the different opportunities offered to the members such as the vans shoe decorating contest, individual members are offered new ways to express themselves every time a meeting takes place.
