While earning $18.3 million opening night, January 16, and a total of $64.6 million opening weekend, American Sniper proves to be a successful thriller. By grossing $200 million within the first ten days of being aired, the film is said to be more than likely able to gross the $350 million mark as well as $400 million mark in a matter of weeks; making it one of the most highest paying films of the decade thus far.

Chris Kyle, the main character in the film, was nothing more than a Texan man wanting to become a cowboy who, in his thirties, discovered that he wanted to begin looking into a different field for his future. While veering away from childhood dreams, Kyle had decided to partake in a field where he would be able to express his real talent, helping America battle against terrorism.

Soon after making the decision to become involved against terrorist attacks, Kyle joined the U.S. Navy’s Special Warfare insignia, or SEAL’s, in order to become a sniper where members of his new team were then asked to leave their families in order to departure on the first tour to Iraq. Throughout the film, it grows more and  more obvious that Kyle is struggling morally not with his missions, but with the reality of the war.

Although the film is an emotional expedition, following the journey of an everyday American man with a baseball cap and a southern drawl crouched behind a sniper rifle is beyond thrilling. With his finger on the trigger, deciding life or death for any and every individual who crosses his path, the working life of this avenging angel will leave the audience speechless and wanting more. The inner adrenaline rush that comes from not knowing what happens next is a total rush that will continuously intrigue viewers of all ages.
