The boys soccer team had a great kickoff to the season bringing in wins and setting new school records. The players and coaches are pleased with the results of their hard work and hope to bring in more during playoffs before the season comes to an end.
“This year has been much more enjoyable than the last,” Coach Leavitt.
Leavitt has been around soccer for most of his life, he played in college and then played professionally, before he started coaching at a high school level.
“Once my professional contract was up I still wanted to stay in the game, and there were people willing to pay me to do that [coaching],” Leavitt said.
Leavitt’s goals for the season were to win more games than last year anf focus on improving the teams overall play, which he can happily say has both been accomplished this season.
Although the team has their ups and downs they have pushed through and created an overall great season for both the coaches and players. So far in the season the team has added a new record of shutouts in a season and is on the route to placing a new school record of the fewest goals allowed.
“We’re on track to set the record for fewest goals allowed,” Leavitt said. “We’ve already set the record for a number of shutouts in a season.”
Not only have school records been set but some personal records are being set by gillen Brown who has a few career scoring records, the same goes for Ashton Adrian.
The team is heading into playoffs where they will battle the other east teams until there’s only two left.
“I expect that we should make the regional titles game,” Leavitt said. “After that to be honest, results are something that we can’t completely control so all we can do is just focus on how we play.”
Overall the team and coaches are very pleased with the season and are going to be working hard these next couple of weeks to hopefully bring home some state titles.
