Gardner woman charged with 2nd-degree murder

On Feb. 8th, 2017 the first responders and Gardner Police Department were called to a home in Gardner, KS when a two-year-old girl, Presley Porting, had been unresponsive in her home.The young girl had been later taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

According to KMBC 9 News on Feb. 8th, “Investigators are hoping an autopsy will provide them with more answers. Family and the community in Gardner are devastated.”

On Apr. 5th, 2017 a 27-year-old woman by the name of Lindsey Thomasson, Porting’s stepmother, who was then living with the young daughter and her biological father, was charged with the first-degree murder of Porting last month.

“She is being held at Johnson County Jail on $2 million bond” according to KMBC 9 News.

Authorities say that Thomasson injured Porting while committing or attempting to commit child abuse or punish Porting for something she did.

Thomasson will face trial about Presley next Wednesday.
