Former student, football player passes away

Gardner Edgerton 2015 graduate,  19-year-old, Sean Callahan Jr. was found unresponsive in Kismet, KS at 1:30 p.m. the past Sunday. He was later pronounced dead at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS. The Seward County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating, but no details have been released about his death as of now. An autopsy will be conducted this week.

Callahan played football at Gardner Edgerton for all four years, he was listed as one of the top players in Kansas as a senior and named as the All-Eastern Kansas first team as an offensive player.

He began his collegiate career at Highland Community College in the fall of 2015 and transferred to Garden City the following year. He received offers from other colleges as well.

Callahan passed just two days after graduating from Garden City.
