Some people are driven by grades, others by goals — but for Amity Dunbar, motivation comes from always wanting to improve. Whether it’s school, sports, or work, Amity has a constant desire to push herself and never give up, no matter how tough things get. Her determination shines through in everything she does, from earning good grades to overcoming challenges.
School has always been a top priority for Amity, and she takes pride in her success. She believes that hard work in the classroom now will lead to future opportunities.
“I’ve had all A’s and B’s throughout my school years,” Dunbar said. “I always like to get better at things and never want to fail.”
That drive to improve doesn’t stop at academics. Amity enjoys hands-on work and has discovered a true passion for welding.
“Welding is fun, and it’s something I won’t suck at,” Dunbar said with a laugh. “It’s one thing I know I can be good at.”
Her perseverance also extends to sports. Even when faced with injuries, Amity refuses to quit.
“Last year during track, I broke my toe and had shin splints all season,” Dunbar explained. “But I just kept pushing through it because I enjoy it.”
Amity credits her strong work ethic to her family, especially her father, who has always encouraged her to give her best effort.
“My dad works really hard,” Dunbar said. “He pushes me and my brother to do our best, too.”
Her hard work pays off both in and out of the classroom.
“Last year I made the honor roll and did a lot of things for my school,” Dunbar said proudly.
Amity also finds motivation in wanting to make her family proud, especially her grandfather.
“My grandpa means a lot to me,” Dunbar said softly. “I want to do good for him.”
Looking ahead, Amity’s goal is to find a career that brings both happiness and stability.
“I just want a job that makes money and doesn’t suck,” Dunbar said. “Something I actually know how to do.”
Kindness is another trait Amity values deeply. She believes being kind is one of the most important qualities a person can have.
“I always try to be kind,” Dunbar said. “It’s something people would want to be around.”
Her mother, she says, has been a major influence on her compassion.
“My mom’s always been a good person,” Dunbar explained. “She’s always kind and wants to do better in life.”
Even with her busy schedule, Amity still finds time to work. Balancing school, sports, and a job isn’t easy, but she enjoys staying active.
“For work, I’m at KC Pumpkin Patch,” Dunbar said. “Then I go to school and learn – it’s a lot, but I like staying busy.”
Through every challenge and accomplishment, Amity Dunbar continues to push herself forward. Her dedication, kindness, and perseverance make her not only a strong student and athlete but also a person who inspires others to keep improving.
