With the development of AI, and people having better access to it, people are able to create whatever they want. But, because of that, problems will occur. When talking about the Harm of AI, you’re going to have to look at it through a different perspective. The harm of Ai art, and the harm it has on students.
Ai can be used in cyberbullying, creating ‘deep fakes’ of another and making inappropriate pictures of a person. A girl named Francesca Man, 10th grade, was a victim of these AI deep fakes. With some boys in her class, taking a picture she posted online, and running it through an Ai software that made people naked, they created images of her body and spread it around the school. As reported by NeaToday, these deepfakes can damage peoples image, reputation, mental health, and everyday life. With girls being more likely to be bullied by boys at school. These AI deep fakes have been growing, with it mostly targeting girls in school. Students nowadays are very exposed to AI. This can create a world of problems considering how the current students in this generation do not care about anything. Students, to save time, will use AI to finish it for them. If you were to walk around and ask a student if they used AI, they would probably say yes. According to Campus Technology, 86% of students use AI. In that percentage, 25% of people admitted to using it regularly, and 54% weekly. You don’t even have to look very far to find people who use AI. Videos of people admitting they can’t write an essay without AI, and students in classes admitting to using AI. Draw, or they don’t want to pay someone to draw. AI destroys creativity, and people are making profit from nothing. Art is a thing, passed down by generations. Cavemen drew on walls, and that progressed, further allowing people to express themselves in their own way. But when someone uses AI, it can discourage others into thinking “What is the point?”. It can also steal attention away from struggling artists who depend on their art to make money. AI also steals other peoples art and expression. Turning into something they shouldn’t call their own. Many artists have had their art stolen by AI without their permission. Taking profit, and recognition, away from the true artists. When interviewed by CNN business, Erin Hanson found out her art was being used by AI. When she found out, she was very unhappy that her art was used to train AI without her consent. Daniel Danger, another artist who’s been used to train AI, has expressed how they didn’t want to be used in a machine that cheapens his work. You cannot become a doctor by using AI. You need to learn, and listen. If you are caught using AI, you will face major penalties. Plagiarism is a very big deal in college, and if you’re caught, you will fail. AI is not original, AI is trained off of other people’s works. According to CollegeBoard, they have the right to ban students from taking further AP exams. After all that was told, I would like for you to realize just how harmful AI can be. The harm of ai, AI art, and the harm it has on students should not be taken lightly. There has already been strikes against it, and people have been losing their jobs because of it. People need to stop using AI as an escape to not do work, and a way to not pay artists what they’re rightfully owed. Ai should be seen as a tool, not a source you are dependent on to finish your work. |
