In recent years, cosplay has become a more mainstream hobby.Due to this influx in popularity it was only a matter of time until GEHS got a cosplay club.
Cosplay is a hobby where people either make or buy costumes that match a character from a show, movie, video game, or a book.
The cosplay club’s teacher sponsor is Robert Barnhill.
“So this is a group of like-minded individuals that are interested in learning how to create costumes for different events and also for going to places similar to Comic-Con, which is a comic book convention,” Barnhill said.
The club is also a place for people to be creative and be around other creative individuals.
“That is what we’re actually hoping to teach is give experience and how to make cosplays and give the skills provided,” sophomore Audrey Heintz said.
The Cosplay Club is hoping to do a fundraiser sometime this semester to raise money to go to a convention in the following years.
“It’s not limited to anime. It’s open for all fandoms, game shows,” junior Jeiyona Hammond said, “Like, you can make anything you want.”
At the moment the cosplay club doesn’t have a set day of the week they meet due to the club being so new. If you are interested in joining the Cosplay Club, talk to Barnhill in room 306.
