Botany class is just like zoology but with more information and visualize the understanding of plants and the plant kingdom

“Just like in my Zoology class, the students will become more familiar with the basic information. We will go into the timeline for the evolutionary path of plants and the divergence of phyla, classes, orders, and families. There will be microscope use, lots of drawing, and a large number of labs to help students visualize and understand the Plant Kingdom” Barnhill, said.

Robert Barnhill, A Biology Teacher,  has been wanting to teach a class that he took when he was in high school and college

“I have been considering it since I first applied for the high school position in 2021. Motivation and timing allowed me to apply for this class to be a part of our high school curriculum late in 2024. I am currently adjusting a semester-long program to fit with time and materials” Barnhill, said.

This new class is all about plants and how they grow and change over a certain amount of time from when you plant the seed to when it grows

“Plants and Understanding them from root to tip. How they are beneficial. How they grow and change over time, sometimes directly due to human influences. The original corn was maybe only 2-4 kernels…look at what we have done to it over time,” Barnhill said.

If you love gardening or just planting plants then you should take the opportunity and enroll in this new class next year if you have taken biology already then you can take the class

“Personal interest and passion for the subject. I hope to pass on this feeling, and maybe even inspire young minds or more to continue research into this field in the future” Barnhill, said.
