1. Last Christmas
I do not know why I like this song so much, but it has a special place in my heart. Wham! produced a very interesting beat that catches people’s attention. It is so much fun to sing and is very different than other christmas songs that are commonly played. I catch myself singing this song all year around because of the fun music and the relatable lyrics.
2. Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
This is another classic by Brendan Lee that I think perfectly depicts Christmas spirit. The vocals in this song are terrific. The song is upbeat and has a cheerful tempo so it is almost impossible to not want to tap your foot and sing along.
3. Jingle Bell Rock
Is this song very repetitive? Yes, it definitely is. Is it still a great festive song? Also yes. There are definetly other holiday songs out there that have better lyrcism, but this song has always been one of my favorites. It creates a jolly atmosphere and just evokes the Christmas vibe.
4. All I want for Christmas is You
A Mariah Carey classic. I think many people would agree with me when I say that it’s not christmas until I have heard this song sung and the iconic note sung. However, I do believe that this song has slowly but surely become too overplayed. With that being said, I am always down to sing and bring holiday cheer with this iconic song.
5. DJ Play a Christmas Song
This song is by Cher and, do not get me wrong, it has a great beat. The song itself is pretty catchy, but I just do not like it as a “Christmas song.” I think the song definitely succeeded on being a different interpretation of what a Christmas song is and the song itself is lively. Its a good song, just not the best Christmas song.
6. Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer
This song is funny the first time I listened to it as a kid, but it’s not a song that you can listen to on repeat during the holiday season. The lyrics are impressive and they are able to pull off some fabulous storytelling, but the truth is it is just not a good song. However, I do not believe this song was created to be number one on any charts. I believe it was made to make someone laugh and it has accomplished that.
