Two sentence horror stories have been around for a long time, but what exactly are they and where did they come from.
Two sentence horror stories are just like the name suggests, a horror story done in two sentences. Oftentimes these stories are used as writing challenges with the goal of coming up with the scariest story.
Most people’s first interaction with two sentence horror stories is from the Subreddit R/TwoSentenceHorror, but the very first was written and published by Fredric Brown in 1948. The story is titled “Knock” and it is about the last person on Earth hearing a knock on his door.
Since then, two sentence horror stories have become incredibly wide spread with an array of good and bad stories. The aforementioned subreddit is the main spot to read these stories.
Being such a staple of scary stories, it makes sense why the GEHS library is holding a two sentence horror story contest open to all students and staff for the Halloween season this year.
The rules are simple, the story must be two sentences long, 400 characters or less, and original. Participants can submit multiple stories, but they are only allowed to win one prize.
The stories are due Friday, October 25 at three PM and the winners will be announced on Halloween day.
