The Blazer Grounds, formally known as Blazer Stop, is a coffee shop set up in the second commons at Gardner Edgerton High School. The class that runs the shop is marketing application. The teacher for the class is Cody Ziegler.
The class grows skills such as business and communications and it prepares students for life after high school.
“I learned how to write a well-written email, how to have hard conversations with people, [and how to] take criticism and give criticism,” Megan Flageolle, junior said.
The Blazer Grounds helps people get scholarships and helps students interact with others.
“I have realized that I wanted to do marketing as my major in college, and this is just a really cool experience. I really wanted to do it freshman year,” Flageolle said.
The class helps people out of their shells and gives them the chance to meet new people while learning skills to prepare them for schooling and future jobs.
“I [can] email adults and tell them things, or I can have conversations with people I do not know, which I wasn’t able to do before,” Flageolle said. “It has made me grow as a person.”
The Blazer Grounds is a small group of people. They are in need of more employees. The target goal for the class is 15 students. The Blazer Grounds has also talked about an internship program where students can work during their lunch periods.
“We need people first of all, [The class] is so fun, and I feel like an adult, and it has really helped me grow,” Flageolle said.
The end goal for Blazer Grounds is to have a physical shop in Gardner Edgerton High School. They decided that The Blazer Grounds would be a more fitting name.
