Students and staff have decided to speak out on their thoughts on the newly instated “early release days.” After interviewing several students, the opinions on them are split about 50/50.
“For the younger kids with no one to take care of them or parents who get off work later than 1:30, it just makes things more complicated for everyone,” Katelin Farage, sophomore, said.
When interviewing teachers and staff, almost opposite reactions were given. They’re loving the extra time off.
“I think it’s great. I think it gives teachers more opportunities to collaborate,” Matthew Mayeske, teacher, said.
“So far I think they’re good. It gives kids and teachers a bit of a break,” Dalton Inlow, teacher, said.
It seems like a big issue for teachers was not having enough time to collaborate and plan for the day. According to Mayeske and Inlow, this solves it for them.
Some students are actually enjoying the more time off they have. They think it makes school more “bearable.”
“I think they’re pretty cool,” Treneyce Francis, sophomore, said. “I like getting to go home and sleep earlier.”
