Brandon Purvis is an English teacher new to Gardner Edgerton High School. He grew up in California and went to college and high school there.
“I am from Mirada, California, which is in the southern part of California,” Purvis said. “I went to high school at Mirada Valley High-school, and went to college at Cal State San Marcos, which is in San Diego.”
Sometimes all it takes for someone to want to become a teacher and help others learn is a good teacher, or just generally loving the subject.
“I always really liked reading,” Purvis said. “I really liked my teachers, even though I wasn’t a good student.”
Purvis believes that his teaching style is laid back.
“I think we do a lot of stuff, but I’m pretty calm and lowkey about it, most of the time,” he said.
Purvis has a lot of things that he loves about English.
“I love that it’s all over the place. You can get into all sorts of different topics, and that it fits under that English umbrella,” Purvis said.
