After working at Gardner Elementary, Hannah Stevens decided to come back to Gardner Edgerton to be the new choir teacher.
Stevens originally was the assistant choir and band director at Gardner Edgerton. Her love for teaching started around her junior or senior year, and she was recommended to start teaching by a few close teachers of hers.
Stevens teaches six different choirs, this includes Madrigals, Tremble Jazz, Blue Blazers, Trailblazers, Tremble Choir, and Concert Choir.
“This is the beginning of year eight for me, so seven full years,” Stevens said.
Stevens went to the University of Kansas and majored in music education.
Her love for music started at a young age. At the age of five, Stevens was enrolled in piano lessons.
“Piano is my main instrument,” Stevens said.
Stevens started choir in the third or fourth grade. She did church and community choir.
Something Stevens struggles with is forgiving herself if she makes a mistake.
“There’s a lot to do if you want to teach excellently,” Stevens said.
Stevens has made it her duty to help the band whenever she can.
