This year we have a few new faces walking the halls here at GEHS, Cody Ziegler being one of them.
Ziegler is one of the two business teachers this year and is in charge of the marketing department for the business program. He is also the new head coach for the basketball team.
Before coming to GEHS he taught at Basehor-Linwood High School for seven years and before, he taught in Madison, Kansas at their high school for four years
“I spent the last seven years in Baser at Basehor-Linwood High School and then four years, before that in Madison, Kansas at Madison High School,” Ziegler said.
This year he is an advisor of the student store that was formerly known as the Blazer Stop, but they are in the middle of rebranding it. He is also taking on the role of head coach for basketball which is what brought him to GEHS.
“I’m the advisor or sponsor of the school store, which is currently known as the Blazer Stop, but we are rebranding it,” he said
Ziegler said that his goal for the basketball team this year is to create a successful culture and to dig deeper into what it means to be a team.
“[I want to] create a successful culture, establish a team, the concept of team, team chemistry, what it means to be a team, accountability, [and] how to win,”
He also hopes to change the narrative of our school being a football-only school and to change the idea of our basketball program not being good.
