How has the competition season been going for the team?

The team has done a great job and have all been really dedicated and put all the effort they could into the routine.

What do you do to mentally prepare yourself before a competition?

Before each competition we have a big team circle where we encourage each other and say what we need to work on.

Senior Madi Weber

What do you think are the most important things to make the squad more successful?

The most important thing to a successful squad is cooperation and determination. You have to be willing to work together as a team and be the best group you can be in order to succeed.

What are the most important traits for a cheerleader to possess?

The most important traits of a cheerleader would have to be leadership and flexibility. Not just in the physical sense but the emotional sense. You have to be willing to try new things and get out of your comfort zone.

Senior Libby VanRheen

What is your favorite cheer memory?

My favorite cheer memory was going to Dallas, Texas this past weekend and competing at NCA Nationals with my team. It was such a good experience and I was happy I was able to spend it with such a great group of girls.

Do you plan to cheer in college?

It would be fun to cheer in college but it requires a lot of traveling and I’m just going to focus on school.

Dance

Senior Paige Riggs

How has competition season been going for the team/you as an individual?

It has been going really well. At our first competition we placed first for mix and lyrical and second in jazz. As an individual I was able to place second with my solo.

What does the team do to prepare for competition?

In order to prepare for competition we have numerous practices to make sure all of our dances look the best they can. It takes a lot of work, but it’s all worth it in the end.

Senior Lauren Haag

How long have you been dancing?

I have been dancing since the 5th grade, so 8 years now.

If you could give a piece of advice to a future Blazerette what would it be?

Be present in every moment and to cherish each second you’re given with your teammates and coaches. Soon you won’t know where time went.
